Cooperation with International Film Camp Odense – presentation of Four River Film Festival and Video workshops for children and youth in Kraljevica
International film camp Odense was held seventh year in a row at the Danish town with the same name from 24th until 29th of August. 30 filmmakers from around the world ages 18 to 20 participated at the Camp chosen based on applications and partnerships of the Film Camp with other organizations worldwide. Whole Camp program included master classes well known professionals in film industry such as photography director Charlotte Bruus Christensen or producer Signa Byrg, group work on the scripts by all participants, commenting of past works of participants and since it was all organized within Odense International Film Festival, participants saw their projections as well. Last year first Croatian filmmaker Leo Vitasović, high school student at the time participated in the Camp , sharing his excitement with the program and connecting the director for festival and educational activities of CFA Marija Ratković Vidaković and leader of Film Camp Mette Bihle. After few Skype meetings, following collaboration was set:
- Two young Danes that went through Film Camp will participate as members of international youth jury at Four River Film Festival – international festival of high school film that is happening in Karlovac organized by Croatian Film Association and Kinoklub Karlovac; this was done in June this year
- One young Croatian filmmaker will participate at the Film Camp in Odnese which will be a prize for his participation at the Youth Film Festival and Fur River Film Festival; said filmmaker was chosen by Mette personally during her stay at Festivals in Karlovac in June this year where she saw all films in the competition and participated in interviews with authors. Prize was given to Tin Vučković, member of “Out of Focus” organization and creator and producer of three films participating at Festivals as well as long term member of organizational board of both festivals.
After seven days in Denmark, Tin came back filled with impressions and inspired for new projects and cooperation: It is wonderful to know that in any time I can call one of my new 30 friends from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Greece, France, Poland or Germany and they will all be willing to help me with my new films!
Next to Tin, Marija Ratković Vidaković participated at the Camp for three days, not only for further promotion of Four River Film Festival but also for the development of other means of cooperation and so she could further develop a similar project in Croatia – Video workshop for children and youth that has been happening for several years in Kraljevica at the end of July, based on what she saw at the Camp. This successful program will be given an international character so collecting every bit of similar experience is important.
Also, Tin and Marija used the chance and gave the Station Next, Danish film group, their Grand Prix which they won this June at the 8th Four River Film Festival considering young Danish filmmakers couldn’t come to Karlovac. Anyhow – that was more than a full week of film.
