Largest delegation from Croatian Film Association ever in Belgrade at International Youth Media Summit

International Youth Media Summit was founded in 2006 and its goal is to encourage youth to use media as main platform for shaping and expressing their opinion about current world problems and as a tool for changes that can fix the future of all of us. Summit is held each year in a different country: last year it was in USA and this year, 10th Summit was held in Belgrade under the motto 'Form the future' and it was officially closed yesterday.

International Youth Media Summit covers several fields of work:

- International production of seven films by youth authors from around the world; films are about discrimination, environment, poverty, health, youth, violence and women rights.
- TV, radio, documentary and Internet/blog/online selection of the Summit is working on post-production of films, post-production of educational platforms and multimedia tracking of Summit activities on regular basis and presentation of those activities as well as Summit archives;
- Executive board along with members, partners and sponsors organizes numerous seminars, presentations and panels during the Summit.

Croatian Film Association became a member of International Youth Media Summit in October 2013. By doing so, it committed to participating at the Summit with minimum of three participants a year. How are the delegates chosen? A year ago, Croatian Film Association introduced a notable novelty within organization of Croatian Children’s Film Festival (elementary school children) as well as Youth Film Festival (high school): winners of awards at both Festivals as an additional award for their successful work get to go to children and youth film festivals around the world – either as jury members or participants in different workshops. This is why children and youth from Elementary School Rudeš, Marija Jurić Zagorka and Većeslav Holjevac from Zagreb, Katarina Zrinski from Mečečani, Blank organization from Zagreb, Elementary school Strahoninec from Strahoninec, Foto kino video club Zaprešić from Zaprešić, Studio of creative ideas from Gunja, Kinoklub Karlovac from Karlovac and Creative Film Studio Vanima from Varaždin have already visited or are still visiting festivals and workshops in USA, Austria, Hungary, Italy, Macedonia, Greece, Spain and Turkey.

Ora Kovač and Paola Kovač from Elementary School Marija Jurić Zagorka from Zagreb and Rajna Racz and Jakov Gotovac from Zagreb Classical High School participated at the 10th Summit. Their mentour was Melita Horvatek Forjan, Croatian language and media culture teacher and long time associate to Croatian Film Association. Next to Summit in Belgrade, media project Under the moon was held that was presented within the Summit and it consisted of Kinoklub Karlovac (member of Croatian Film Association) with partners from Slovenia, Hungary and Serbia. Moto of the whole project as well as videos created within it was that we all live under the same moon, each of us only sees it a bit differently. Next to students from Kinoklub Karlovac, Matija Piralić, Laura Pribanić, Karla Stanić, Miran Ratković, Nina Dojčinović (lead by their mentor Ksenija Sanković), added member to the team was Antonio Britvar from Hodači po žici organization from Zagreb that is almost considered a Karlovac citizen. As you can see, Croatian delegation to Belgrade was never larger – 12 chosen ones that are already looking forward to the next issue of the Summit in 2016. On which side of the planet it will be held, we still don’t know.
