'I saw a potentially good topic, gathered the team and that was it! After having received all the awards I got motivation for further projects, and nothing else had changed. The experience from the festival was very important, especially the Youth Film Festival," said Marina.
Last night, in the packed hall of the Zorin Dom Theatre, Marina presented her two films. The first film we saw was "The boy on the side", which earned her the title of laureate and the other film is "The Story of Mara from Veli Varoš", a feature film that was filmed for the needs of the Academy.

'It was my graduation film on my third year during my BA study of production. It complicated my life a little, as it always happens, because I decided to shoot at the coast. This shooting was, although extremely exhausting, one of the most beautiful shootings I'd ever taken part in. The feeling of adrenaline, happiness and satisfaction that I felt during those six days of shooting are truly priceless,' said Marina.
In the educational programme, for those who have always known how to analyze films or those who just wanted to learn, Boško Picula, a film critic and a member of this year's selection committee, held a workshop on Film Reviews. Luka Hrgović, today a successful filmmaker, and former winner of the festival held a workshop on special effects.
Luka Hrgović
'I have always been fascinated by the magic of film so as a kid I started watching how films were made. Later I got into postproduction and now it's my job. Academy of Fine Arts came spontaneously, and today I mostly work in the advertising industry. The workshop consists of theoretical and practical part, we analyze the films and show concrete examples of how special effects are created,' said Luka Hrgović.

In 2013 the online application system was introduced which greatly facilitated the approach and increased the number of applications, so we usually have about 400 applications a year,' said Domagoj Rubić.
Professor Cheryll Hidalgo from Seattle Academy of Art and Science and a member of this year's jury showed us from her long-lasting experience how to work on experimental film with young filmmakers.
Cheryll Hidalgo
'I teach video production for beginner and advanced film, documentary, animation, experimental, alternative processes and a subject called How to understand film, where we study how the lighting, camera, composition and sound work together in the transfer of the author's thoughts. We analyze the film not from the viewpoint of a synopsis or character development, but from the standpoint of production', revealed Cheryll.
From 398 films from around the world, the selection committee has chosen 31 Croatian films and 41 foreign films, which enter the competition on the 20th Youth Film Festival and the 8th FRFF. So this year on Four River Film Festival in Karlovac which takes place from June 23 to 27, films from a number of countries are competing, including Cuba, Australia and Brazil.
