Side program
Makarska lived for children's films year round!
Even though Makarska doesn’t have a cinema for over 15 years, CA Dokuma, which is the only association in Makarska Riviera focusing on audiovisual activities, organizes screenings through “City without cinema” program for the third year in a row in the local Fire house. On March 26th, at the opening of the new season of this program, Makarska audience got to see long fiction film “Martinac” by Zdravko Mustać produced by Croatian Film Association.
Also, as sort of introduction to 54th Croatian Children’s Film Festival best films from previous Festival were shown, selected by Josip Vujčić, secretary of Dokuma. In a crowded hall, audience had a chance to see: “Children, my name is Ivica” by Bartol Kašić Elementary, “Black belt” by Mala Subotica Elementary, “Dream job” by ZAG and “Sound Barrier” by Bartol Kašić Elementary. Biggest excitement happened during the premier of “Makarska Sun” created at the TV report workshop “Little Makarska TV” held during spring break. Eight students with their teacher Marina Srhoj, mentored by professor Ivana Rupić, participated in the makings of this interesting TV report in which they shown activities of members and protégés of the “Sunce” Association for people with disabilities from Makarska.
Audience was surprised by the screening of short documentary “Makarska Zora” which was created by participants of video group from Makarska elementary school Petra Perice mentored by professor Srhoj which was also the first school film created in Makarska after professor Vinko Garmaz, founder of the KinoKlub Biokovo, foundation club for Dokuma, retired.
Lets mention that protégés of “Sunce” organization, mentored with Makarska painter Goran Novović created artistic solutions which were used to create visual identity of the 54th Croatian Children’s Film Association. They will also have a chance to participate in another workshop which is going to be held just before the Festival – coffee/sand animation workshop lead by work therapist Ivana Štedul and film group mentor from KinoKlub Karlovac Ksenija Sanković. Premier of film created at the workshop will be held at the closing of the Festival. We hope that this type of activities will spark further growth of audiovisual creation of children and youth in Makarska.
