Martinac and the best of Croatian Children's Film Festival at the opening of „City without cinema“ program in Makarska
Even though Makarska doesn't have a functioning cinema for over 15 years, Dokuma, the only organization in Makarska area working within audiovisual field, for the third year in a row organizes a series of screenings called „City without cinema“ at the local fire station. During the opening of new season of the program, 26th of march, local audience had a chance to see a premiere of a feature film „Martinac“ by Zdravko Mustać, produced by Croatian Film Association. Mentioned film was included into 25th Days of Croatian Film. Secretary of Croatian Film Association, Marija Ratković Vidaković talked to the audience before the screening about the importance of development of audiovisual activities and stressed the fact of importance of initiatives like this when it comes to possible activation of cinema works within the area. She also presented 54th Croatian Children’s Film Festival that will be organized by the Association and Dokuma in the beginning of October this year.
On the same day youngest citizens had a chance to see a screening of awarded documentaries from the 53rd Croatian Children’s Film Festival at the fire station, selected by Josip Vujčić, Dokuma's secretary. In a crowded hall, audience had a chance to see films like „Djeco, Ivica se zovem“ by Ivanovec Elementary School, „Crni pojas“ by Mala Subotica Elementary School, „Posao iz snova“ by ZAG organization and „Zvučna kulisa“ by Bartol Kašić Elementary School. Premier of a movie „Makarsko Sunce“ caused the biggest excitement. It was created at the TV report workshop „Little television Makarska“ held during the spring break. Eight students with their teacher Marina Srhoj, mentored by professor Ivana Rupić participated in the making of this interesting TV report showing activities of members and protégés of „SUNCE“ organization for people with disabilities from Makarska. Audience was surprised by the screening of short documentary „Makarska Zora“ that was done by members of video group at the Petar Perica Elementary School from Makarska mentored by professor Srhoj which was also the first school film created in Makarska after the retirement of professor Vinko Garmaz, founder of KinoKlub Biokovo which was also the beginning of Dokuma organization.
Excellent workshop! I didn't expect such intense and dynamic work. It was a special pleasure to see children getting involved so much and enjoying themselves, they were loving it. Personally, I learned a lot. I would like to applaud to mentor Ivana that lead us through the workshop with amazing lightness and gave us the knowledge with such pleasure. She held the workshop giving it her one hundred percent effort and I am really thankful for that. – said Marina Srhoj, Croatian language teacher.
It is important to mention protégés of „SUNCE“ organization who created art work, mentored by Makarska painter Goran Novović, that was used to design visual identity of 54th Croatian Children's Film Festival.
