FESTIVALS: 13th DAYS OF CROATIAN FILM
Documentary film: The magnificent seven?
At the 13th Days of Croatian film, documentary film was represented with no more than nine works, which made it difficult to make any serious evaluation of this year’s documentary film production. However, among films chosen by the strict selector Zvonimir Jurić, there was not a single mediocre work. Their common thematic denominator were social issues, more precisely, questioning of basic features of the society we live in and the influences those features have on the individual and his/her placement in the surrounding. Still, particular auteur poetics revealed a wide range of artistic expressions, from Peščenopolis by Katarina Zrinka Matijević Veličan, to Osti by Tomislav Šango, and All about Eve by Silvester Kolbas, and Happy Child by Igor Mirković.
