INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF NEW FILM AND VIDEO, SPLIT ’97

Presenting authors and works from more than thirty countries, the International Festival of New Film and Video in its second issue (Split, 6th-12th October) considerably extended its boundaries. In comparison with the last-year programme marked by the dominance of experimental and media exploration, this year competition has included film and video works occupied with themes from broader political and cultural arena, such as social misery, sex and sexuality, or violence. Only introduced boundary was that between video and film competition, both marked by aesthetic, structural and stylistic diversity.
