STUDIES IN CINEMATOGRAPHY
Portrait of a cinematographer (IV) – Conrad L. Hall
The fourth in the series of the Portrait of the Cinematographer series deals with the camera work of Conrad (Lee) Hall, director of photography who in 1960s broke up with the Hollywood studios conventions. His specific approach to the film light, which uses light as the contribution to the film story, is discussed on examples of Hall’s films Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) and Road to Perdition (2001).
