CULTURAL POLICY
For the rights and dignity of the director of photography
The Spanish town of Huelva hosted the conference of IMAGO, European federation of directors of photography. Themes discussed were technologies of the future and inappropriately long working hours of directors of photography that even take their toll in human lives. The town was also the setting of the First international congress of cameramen, which was dealing with the subject of copyright. Croatian solution to the problem drew much attention of the participants since, contrary to many developed and financially more powerful cinematographies, director of photography in Croatia is listed as coauthor of the film, next to director, scriptwriter, dialogue writer, composer, and of course, the producer (and sometimes also some other participants of the creative process).
The report also presents a short history of IMAGO and H. F. S. (Croatian guild of directors of photography), the explanation of copyright laws in Denmark and relevant articles from Croatian law.
