On Color

The research paper deals with the basic principles of color cinematography and its theoretical and technical aspects.

The transition from black & white cinematography to color implied a radical change in artistic perception. In the black & white period, cinematographers forced themselves to see the world tonally, to translate the volume, color and perspective into a black & white play of light and shadow — they built their style on it. The introduction of color forced them to solve not only new technical problems, but to rearrange their perceptions and to find ways to use color as a means of expression.

The paper investigates basic color principles and the stylistically relevant dimensions of color. The analytical content of the article: Basic concepts. On the inter-influence of the colors.
