DAYS OF CROATIAN FILM ’97
Prolonged Agony
A review article about the film production presented at the national short film festival Days of Croatian Film.
There is nothing fundamentally new to be
said about the Seventh Days of Croatian Film, because the
state of Croatian film industry has not changed a bit —
it is still practically non-existent.
We have nevertheless
seen several fine films, such as documentaries Plašitelj
kormorana (The Cormorant Scarecrow), Nešto osobno (Something
Personal), Američki san (American Dream) and Đ uro
Adamović, animated film Kolač (The Cake),
experimental films Emit, Nešto osobno (Something personal), Konvergencija
(Convergence) and U jednom smjeru (One Way Only),
video clips White Xmas, Ospice (Measles) and Dead
Horses, as well as special purpose films O’ivi nedjelju
(Perk Up Sunday), Zagorje-dvorci (The Zagorje Region —
Castles) and Ospice (Measles).
This hopefully
means that only a lack of funds and infrastructure prevents
the artistic potentials of Croatian film from blooming. Nikica Gilić |
