Krešimir Mikić: Film in Teaching Media Culture (2001, Zagreb: Educa)

The book Film in Teaching of Media Culture by Krešimir Mikić has 15 chapters and includes a bibliography, a list of most important films, an index and an alphabetical list. It was conceived as a theoretical textbook, an overview of the history of film and a manual for the methodology of film teaching. The book is well laid out and informative, pointing out the sources and literature. On the downside, however, it contains a number of simplified statements, definitions and sintagmas that, when compared to the more elaborate chapters, make the book seem uneven.

Furthermore, facts; i. e. film titles and biographical data, are not presented systematically and lack unity. On the whole, although the book could not actually be used as a textbook, it is a useful reminder and a welcome addition to one’s film library.
