Vedran Šamanović Award

2013 VEDRAN ŠAMANOVIĆ AWARD
Winner: director TOMISLAV ŠOBAN for NAJMANJI (The Smallest)

The film’s concept and skillful direction on the boundary between experimental and animated film, with strong implications of documentary film techniques, push the envelope of film dramaturgy by demonstrating the possibility of film narration without showing the characters, through the rhetoric of film repetitiveness and associative connection of scenes in order to create a believable and emotionally very powerful whole.

We believe Tomislav Šoban’s film pushes the boundaries and expands the horizons of Croatian filmmaking and is therefore the rightful winner of this year’s Vedran Šamanović Award.
